Mirtos is located in southeastern Crete, 14 km west of Ierapetra, Europe’s southernmost city.
The ideal place to find rest and tranquility is the romantic coastline of southern Crete. A beautiful landscape full of olive groves, a Greek village with a typically sleepy atmosphere, where time seems to stop, sandy bays and cliffs falling steeply into the sea are all typical of the southern coast.
You can make trips to the interior, always giving you unusual experiences. Mirtos with its typical atmosphere is one of the most picturesque villages.
This picturesque village can be your home for a few days. The hospitality of the Cretan people, the warm Libyan Sea, the possibility of fishing and the original atmosphere will enchant every visitor.
Sandy / pebble beach in a romantic bay, partly with parasols and deck chairs (for a fee), pleasant sitting in local taverns or cafes right by the sea. At the cafes, free sun loungers are included in the price of the drink you order.
An ideal place for diving. Hiking is progressing slowly, and in the morning, the murmur of the sea, the smell of the local bakery and the talk of grandmothers going to Sunday Mass in the church bring you to the morning.
In the vicinity there are archaeological excavations from the Minoan period, which can be reached by a pleasant walk, and a large number of olive groves and orange trees. Another tip for a beautiful trip is the nearby magical Sarakinas Gorge, a Byzantine church hidden in olive trees, and the Iera Moni Panagias Exakoustis Monastery. Lovers of boat trips are offered the opportunity to swim to the beautiful virgin island of Chrissy, where the nature reserve is located.
